Parry St Germain places third in ‘Built World Cup’ Charity Football Tournament

11 May 2026 – Edd Kilvert

On Friday 8 May, Parry St Germain come home with a highly commendable bronze medal in the second edition of ING & the developer’s Built World Cup.

The team was drawn into a difficult group with some industry big hitters; the objective: to exceed last year’s quarter final elimination.

PSG got off to a slow start, labouring to equalise late to secure a 1-1 draw with Scape. Josh was outstanding between the sticks, producing a string of great saves and showing composure and quality in his distribution to help PSG build from the back.

The second fixture saw a dramatic tussle with Civic Engineering in which our gun for hire Aya – one of two talented women drafted in from our network in the construction industry alongside Tayo – scored with the final kick of the game to win 3-2 and see us really start our charge to the top of the group.

Next up were the holders PRP, who raced into a three-goal lead before the spirited Parry players pegged them back, scoring once again with the last kick to draw 4-4. Throughout these early exchanges.

Cundall were dismissed in the first comfortable win for PSG, as they demolished them 5-0. Omar’s skills caused havoc throughout, while Jesse’s great footwork and composure on the ball proved near impossible to contain, and Harley’s tireless determination set the tone for the whole team.

A top of table clash between first placed HTA and second placed PSG followed for the decisive final group game. With a dominant performance, PSG leapfrogged HTA, beating them 3-1 to top the group and secure themselves a favourable draw against Eckersley O’Callaghan in the quarter final.

PSG went into the game as favourites and did not disappoint, seeing off their opponents with a dominant 3-1 win to set up a huge semi-final against Bishopsgate Goodsyard/Ballymore (who were rumoured to have drafted in a couple of semi-pros for the event). They proved to be too strong for PSG, narrowly beating us in a difficult 3-2 win that knocked PSG out into the third-place playoff against last year’s rivals Landsec. There was no shame in losing to the eventual winners, who won every game they played.

PSG professionally dispatched Landsec with a 2-1 win to take the bronze medal – a deserved achievement from the team, who had shown skill, guile, heart and resilience throughout the tournament. We didn’t expect to do so well, and the captain is extremely proud of all involved. Even if our involvement to the very end of the tournament almost made him late for nursery pickup.

Most importantly, the tournament raised over £11,000 for Ukrainian charity Brave to Rebuild.
