James McNeill

Associate

BA (Hons), DipArch, ARB

James has been with Eric Parry Architects since 2013 and qualified as an architect in 2015. He has contributed to a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects across the educational, cultural, and heritage sectors.

His experience includes key roles in delivering world-class facilities such as the £5.2 million music school at Brighton College and the £6.5 million recital hall building at Wells Cathedral School—both providing state-of-the-art teaching and performance spaces.

James led the construction of the award-winning £5.5 million renovation of St John’s Church in Waterloo, a Grade II* listed building. The project delivered significant upgrades to support the church’s role in the social, cultural, and spiritual life of central London.

He is currently working on the 50 Fenchurch Street development—a landmark 36-storey workplace tower and new livery hall for the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, in the heart of the City of London. Alongside modern, flexible workspaces and amenities, the scheme carefully integrates the historic Grade I listed Tower of All Hallows Staining into a new public realm.

James recently completed the new galleries at the Holburne Museum in Bath, a conservation-led project within a Grade I listed building in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

He has also recently led key aspects of the studio’s Warneford Park proposals in Oxford, which involve the adaptive reuse of Grade II-listed hospital buildings into a new graduate college for the University of Oxford. Set within a wider masterplan for a new medical sciences campus, the project brings together academic, research, and clinical functions in a cohesive, purpose-built environment.

Passionate about conservation, innovation, and community impact, James plays an active role in the studio’s Technical Working Group and contributes to its Mentorship Programme, supporting the development of emerging architects.
